Armada Hotel Istanbul
is located in the heart of Istanbul's historic peninsula, an area whose identity over the centuries absorbed the character of its rulers and population as Byzantium, New Rome, Constantinople, Konstantinopolis, Âsitâne, Dersaadet and Istanbul, with views of two of the great masterpieces of world architecture, the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, the Armada Hotel offers a unique experience to its guests. Situated at the heart of the Old City, it is within walking distance of many of the major attractions: the Archaeology Museum, the Topkapi Palace, the Church of St. Irene, Sultanahmet Square, the Cisterns, the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar.Modern comfort and convenience are discreetly incorporated into the interior and exterior design of the Hotel, enhancing its historical atmosphere. The name of the Armada Hotel is a tribute to the memory of the renowned Ottoman Admiral Hayrettin Pasha Barbarossa. Period engravings throughout the hotel provide an insight into Istanbul’s by-gone eras.
You are welcomed to the Armada Hotel by the spacious Fountain Café, whose marble fountain hosts a family of turtles basking in its trickling waters. The traditional Oriental divan seating near the entrance is an inviting spot for a game of backgammon, a quiet read or just a comfortable place to relax and chat with friends. Rooms are decorated in Ottoman simplicity, with decoratively painted wooden panels and authentic fabrics. The modern bathrooms provide organic bathroom amenities. The open buffet Turkish-style breakfast is enhanced by an array of homemade jams and pastries from the Armada's own kitchen, with organic fresh and dried fruits providing a flavorful way of welcoming the new day.
In addition to five meeting rooms, two restaurants and bar, the Armada’s delightful rooftop terrace provides a breathtaking close-up view of the Haghia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara. The restaurants within the Armada Hotel are popular with locals as well, but there are also two enjoyable alternatives nearby: “Sabahattin the Fisherman”, a seafood restaurant that has won seven international awards, is only six minutes from the Hotel, and just behind it, the “Giritli Istanbul,” whose Mediterranean cuisine is among the “Top 10 of Istanbul”.
